How Electronic Private Prescriptions work
1. The prescriber enters a medication with the dose and quantity for their patient on the Electronic Private Prescription (EPP) software.
2. They then have 3 options to issue the prescription:
- Nominate a pharmacy from a list to which they want to send the prescription. In this case, both the pharmacy and patient will receive a message regarding the prescription. The pharmacy then contacts the patient to pick up the medication or delivers it to their home.
- Issue a prescription ‘token’ that is sent by email and text message to the patient. The patient can take this to any pharmacy to have their medication dispensed.
- Print the prescription (e.g. when in a F2F consultation)
